Approved Courses
The UKBA has instructed that from 31 March 2010 only students studying on courses leading to approved qualifications will be eligible to receive a general student visa. Many institutions currently recruit visa students on to courses which lead to a qualification that does not fit the UKBA's criteria (listed in paragraph 235 of the Guidance for Sponsor Applications, attached). Critical to understanding the new regulations is the National Qualification Framework represented by the following diagram:
